Letter writing - Formal letter - JSS2 English language Lesson Note

LESSON NOTE ON REPORT WRITING

Formal letter is an official or business letter that is written to the people in important positions.eg Principal, Governor, Chairman, President , Commissioner  of police  etc.

SUB-TOPIC: SCHOOL REPORT
A school report is a formal document that provides an assessment of a student's academic performance. It is typically written by teachers for parents, school administrators, or other individuals in positions of authority.

FEATURES OF A SCHOOL REPORT
1. It includes the name of the student and the date of the report.
2. The greeting is typically "Dear [Recipient's Name],"
3. It has a title or subject line.
4. The body of the report, which contains the assessment of the student's performance.
5. The closing remark.
6. The signature is "Yours sincerely," followed by the full name of the teacher, with the last name first.
7. The language used should be formal, and abbreviations should be avoided.
