Literature in English: Introduction

 

Definition:

Literature in English encompasses written and spoken works that express ideas, emotions, and experiences through language. It includes various forms such as prose, poetry, and drama, created by authors from diverse cultural backgrounds.

 

Branches of Literature:

1. Prose: This branch includes novels, short stories, essays, and articles. Prose presents narratives in everyday language, allowing for detailed character development and storytelling.

   

2. Poetry: Poetry utilises rhythm, rhyme, and imagery to convey emotions and ideas in a condensed and expressive manner. It often explores themes of love, nature, and human experiences.
