Making Crocheting Stitches - JSS3 Cultural and creative art Lesson Note

Chain Stitch (ch): The chain stitch is the foundation of most crochet projects. It creates a series of interconnected loops, providing a base for subsequent stitches.

Single Crochet (sc): This is one of the basic crochet stitches. It creates a dense fabric with a tight texture. To single crochet, insert the hook into the second chain from the hook, yarn over, pull up a loop, yarn over again, and pull through both loops on the hook.

Double Crochet (dc): Double crochet creates a taller stitch than single crochet, resulting in a looser fabric. To double crochet, yarn over, insert the hook into the specified stitch, yarn over again, pull up a loop, yarn over, pull through two loops on the hook, yarn over again, and pull through the remaining two loops on the hook.

Half Double Crochet (hdc): This stitch falls between single and double crochet in height. To half double crochet, yarn over, insert the hook into the specified stitch, yarn over again, pull up a loop, yarn over, and pull through all three loops on the hook.

Treble Crochet (tr): Treble crochet creates a tall, open stitch. To treble crochet, yarn over twice, insert the hook into the specified stitch, yarn over again, pull up a loop, yarn over, pull through two loops on the hook, yarn over, pull through two more loops, and yarn over again, and pull through the remaining two loops on the hook.
