Mean - JSS3 Mathematics Lesson Note

The mean (average) of a data set is the sum of all values divided by the number of values.

Example:

Consider the data set: 

12,8,5,17,10.

Calculate the mean:

Mean= 12+8+5+17+10/5

 = 52/5

 =10.4

So, the mean of this data set is 10.4.
