Meaning of Force and Types - JSS1 Basic science Lesson Note

Force is a push or pull that can change the state of motion or shape of an object. There are four fundamental types of forces:

Gravity: It pulls objects towards each other. For example, it keeps us on the ground and planets in orbit around the sun.

Electromagnetic force: It includes both attraction and repulsion between charged particles. It's what keeps electrons orbiting around atomic nuclei and holds matter together.

Strong nuclear force: It holds the nucleus of an atom together by overcoming the repulsion between positively charged protons.

Weak nuclear force: It is responsible for certain types of radioactive decay and plays a role in the fusion reactions that power stars.
