Measurement of units - SS1 Geography Lesson Note

When we talk about measuring units, we're referring to the standard ways we use to measure different quantities like length, weight, time, and more. In this case, we're interested in measuring distance. In everyday life, we often use units like meters, kilometers, miles, and so on to measure how far things are from each other.

 

Now, when we're dealing with maps, we need to represent real-world distances on a piece of paper or a screen. Maps use a smaller scale to fit everything in a manageable size. The distance on a map is usually much smaller than the actual distance on the Earth's surface. This is where the conversion comes in.
