Modes of Transfer - JSS3 Physical and health education Lesson Note

Direct Contact: Transmission occurs through physical contact with an infected person or their bodily fluids. Examples include touching, kissing, or sexual intercourse.

Indirect Contact: Transmission happens through contact with contaminated surfaces or objects. Examples include doorknobs, utensils, or shared items.

Airborne Transmission: Pathogens spread through droplets or aerosols expelled when an infected person coughs, sneezes, or talks. Examples include influenza and COVID-19.

Vector-borne Transmission: Pathogens are transmitted through the bite of arthropods like mosquitoes, ticks, or fleas. Examples include malaria, dengue fever, and Lyme disease.

Foodborne Transmission: Consumption of contaminated food or water can lead to disease. Examples include salmonella and E. coli infections.
