Problems of policy of assimilation - SS2 Government Lesson Note
The policy of assimilation in colonial contexts led to several problems, including the loss of cultural identity and traditions of the colonized peoples.
The forced adoption of the colonizer's language, religion, and way of life often resulted in the erasure of the colonized peoples' unique cultures and heritage.
This policy also led to the suppression of political and social rights of the colonized peoples, and often resulted in violence and oppression. Additionally, the policy of assimilation created a power imbalance between the colonizers and the colonized peoples, with the former exerting total control over the latter.
