Ruth services her mother-in-law. (RUTH 11 : 17-18) - JSS1 Christian Religious Studies Lesson Note

Ruth was a young woman from the land of Moab. She married Mahlon, son of Elemelech and Naomi who were Israelites. Another Moabite woman, Orpah, married Chilion the brother of Mahlon. After sometimes, Naomi’s husband died. After two years, her two sons also died. Naomi was now in trouble as she had lost her husband and two sons. She was now alone in the world, with just her two daughter’s in-law. She asked Orpah and Ruth to return to their people. They both refused at first, when she pleaded, Orpah agreed and went to her people. But Ruth refused to return to her people. She said “where you go I will go and where you lodge I will lodge. Your people will be my people, your God will be my God, Where you die, I will die and there I will be buried.

After saying this, Ruth swore never to leave Naomi. She stayed with Naomi, she cooked her food and made her bed. She fetched water for her to take her bath. She kept her company. Naomi was happy for the faithful service Ruth had rendered her. Naomi thanked Ruth for all kindness. Naomi was now old. She wanted to return to her people in the land of Israel. She thanked Ruth for her services and asked her to return to her people, but Ruth said she would go with Naomi to her people. Naomi and Ruth returned to the land of Israel. Ruth continued to serve Naomi in the land of Israel. Ruth was of service to all the people of Israel. All the people of Israel loved Ruth for her services.
