Soil Conservation Methods - JSS3 Agricultural Science Lesson Note

Soil conservation methods are strategies implemented to prevent erosion, improve soil structure, and enhance soil health. These methods include:

1. Terracing: Constructing level platforms on slopes to reduce water runoff and soil erosion.

2. Contour Ploughing: Ploughing along the contour lines of the land to minimise soil erosion by water runoff.

3. Strip Cropping: Alternating rows of different crops to create natural barriers against erosion.

4. Conservation Tillage: Reducing soil disturbance during planting and cultivation to maintain soil structure and reduce erosion.
