Sources of Electricity - JSS1 Basic technology Lesson Note
- Batteries: Batteries serve as portable energy storage units, converting chemical energy into electrical energy. They are indispensable for powering small electronic devices like smartphones, laptops, and flashlights, providing mobility and autonomy to these devices.
- Mains: The mains, or electrical grid, comprises a network of power lines and transformers that distribute electricity from power plants to homes, businesses, and industries. It delivers alternating current (AC) electricity to buildings through outlets and sockets, reliably powering lighting, appliances, and electronics.
- Generators: Generators transform mechanical energy into electrical energy. They serve as backup power sources during outages or in remote areas without mains access. Generators can operate on various fuels, including gasoline, diesel, natural gas, or renewable sources like wind or hydroelectric power.
