Nigerian nationalists engaged in various activities to fight for the country's independence and promote the interests of Nigerians. Some of these activities include:
- · Political organizing: Nigerian nationalists formed political parties and organizations to advocate for self-rule and to challenge colonial rule. Examples include the National Council of Nigeria and the Cameroons (NCNC) and the Action Group.
- · Protests and demonstrations: Nigerian nationalists organized protests and demonstrations to demand independence and challenge colonial policies. One of the most significant was the 1947 anti-colonial strike led by the NCNC and the Nigerian Union of Teachers.
- · Diplomatic efforts: Nigerian nationalists also engaged in diplomatic efforts to gain support from other countries and international organizations for Nigeria's independence. For example, they petitioned the United Nations to pressure the British to grant Nigeria independence.
