The importance of a good name - JSS2 Christian Religious Studies Lesson Note

There are people you have never seen or met—yet just their name gives you an opinion of them. For example, when you hear the name George Washington, you think of a man who sacrificed greatly to help form the United States of America; but when you hear the name Adolph Hitler, a very different picture comes to mind.

Proverbs 22:1 tells us the value of a good name: “A good name is rather to be chosen than great riches, and loving favor rather than silver and gold.”

A Christian should endeavor to have a good name because it reflects on Christ. We are called by His name, so we should make sure that we live blamelessly and refrain from conduct that would besmirch the name of Christ.
