Nigeria is a diverse country with over 250 ethnic groups, each with its own distinct culture, language, and traditions. However, there are three major ethnic groups that make up the majority of the Nigerian population, and several smaller ethnic groups that constitute a minority. The three major ethnic groups in Nigeria are:
- · Hausa-Fulani: This ethnic group is concentrated mainly in the northern part of the country, and they make up about 29% of the Nigerian population. The Hausa-Fulani are predominantly Muslim and are known for their rich cultural heritage, including their traditional attire, music, and food.
- · Yoruba: The Yoruba people are mainly located in the southwestern part of Nigeria, and they make up about 21% of the population. They are predominantly Christian or Muslim and are known for their elaborate and colorful festivals, including the famous Osun-Osogbo festival.
- · Igbo: The Igbo people are located in the southeastern part of Nigeria, and they make up about 18% of the population. They are predominantly Christian and are known for their entrepreneurial spirit and ingenuity.
There are also several other minority ethnic groups in Nigeria, including the Tiv, Efik, Ijaw, Kanuri, and many more. These groups are spread across different regions of the country and have their own distinct languages, cultures, and traditions.
