Transmission of Sound - JSS3 Basic science Lesson Note
Once sound is produced, it travels through a medium, typically air, but it can also travel through solids and liquids. As sound waves move through the medium, they cause the particles in the medium to vibrate, transferring the energy of the sound wave. This transmission of sound can occur in various ways, such as through compression waves in air or through the vibration of molecules in solids.
When you speak, for instance, the sound waves travel through the air and reach the ears of the listener. The medium through which sound travels affects its speed and intensity, with sound traveling faster in denser mediums like water or solids compared to air.
