Transplanting - JSS1 Agricultural science Lesson Note

Transplanting involves growing seedlings in a controlled environment (such as a nursery) and later transplanting them into the field once they have reached a certain size.

Advantages:

   - Allows for better control over plant growth conditions.

   - Enables early planting and extended growing seasons.

   - Ensures uniform plant spacing and stand.

Disadvantages:

   - Requires additional labour for transplanting.

   - Risk of transplant shock if not done carefully.

Crop Examples: Vegetables like tomatoes, peppers, and cabbage are often transplanted.
