Types of conflict - JSS3 Social studies Lesson Note
The types of conflicts are diverse and can be categorized as follows:
- Interpersonal Conflicts: These arise between individuals, often stemming from personal differences, communication breakdowns, or incompatible objectives. It can manifest in various settings, from personal relationships to workplace dynamics.
- Intragroup Conflicts: This type of conflict occurs within a group, involving disagreements among members. It might revolve around conflicting ideas, power struggles, or differences in working styles, potentially impacting the overall group cohesion and productivity.
- Intergroup Conflicts: Involving clashes between different groups, this type of conflict can emerge within organizations, communities, or societies. It often stems from competition for resources, differences in ideologies, or historical tensions between the groups.
- Intrapersonal Conflicts: Conflict within an individual is a personal struggle, often involving conflicting desires, values, or emotions. This type of conflict can lead to inner turmoil and indecision as individuals grapple with conflicting aspects of themselves.
