Types of Crop Diseases - JSS1 Agricultural science Lesson Note

1. Fungal Diseases: Examples include powdery mildew, rust, and damping-off. Fungi thrive in warm and humid conditions, causing lesions, wilting, and other symptoms.

2. Bacterial Diseases: Bacterial pathogens cause diseases such as bacterial blight and bacterial wilt, affecting various plant tissues and often leading to wilting and necrosis.

3. Viral Diseases: Viruses, transmitted by vectors like insects, cause diseases such as mosaic and leaf curl, resulting in distorted growth and reduced yields.

4. Nematode Diseases: Nematodes are microscopic worms that can damage plant roots, affecting nutrient absorption and causing stunted growth.
