Types of family - JSS1 Christian Religious Studies Lesson Note

There are different types of families’ e.g. nuclear, extended, paternal, maternal families.

The Nuclear Family

     This is made up of husband, wife and children, including adopted children and wards. The nuclear family is also called the natural or restricted family.

Extended Family

     This is made up of husband, wife, children, brothers, sisters, uncles, aunts, cousins, etc. It is also made up of the relatives of the parents in the nuclear family.

Paternal Family – the family lineage is traced through the father’s side.

Maternal Family – the family lineage is traced through the mother’s side.
