Types of Makeup - JSS1 Cultural and Creative Art Lesson Note
a) Straight Makeup:
Straight makeup refers to the application of makeup to enhance natural features without altering them dramatically.
It aims to achieve a subtle and natural look, enhancing one's appearance without looking heavily made-up.
Common products used in straight makeup include foundation, concealer, blush, neutral eyeshadows, mascara, and lip gloss.
This type of makeup is suitable for everyday wear, work settings, or casual occasions where a minimal and natural look is desired.
b) Character Makeup:
Character makeup involves transforming an individual's appearance to portray a specific character, often seen in theater, film, television, and cosplay.
It requires more advanced techniques and often involves extensive use of prosthetics, special effects makeup, and creative application methods.
Character makeup can range from creating realistic aging effects, facial transformations, fantasy characters, creatures, or even historical figures.
Makeup artists may use techniques like contouring, shading, highlighting, and special effects products to achieve the desired character look.
