Types of Population Sizes - JSS3 Civic education Lesson Note
- Small Population: Refers to a relatively low number of individuals residing in a specific area. Small populations may face challenges such as limited economic opportunities, reduced access to services, and vulnerability to environmental and social shocks.
- Medium Population: Represents a moderate number of individuals within a defined geographical region. Medium-sized populations often experience more balanced development, with adequate access to resources and services, although disparities may still exist.
- Large Population: Characterized by a high number of individuals residing in a given area. Large populations may strain infrastructure, healthcare systems, and natural resources, leading to challenges related to urbanization, pollution, and social inequalities.
- Mega Population: Refers to extremely large populations, typically found in densely populated urban centers or metropolitan areas. Mega populations may face issues such as overcrowding, traffic congestion, housing shortages, and increased environmental degradation.
