TYPES OF PROSE

FICTION

Fiction is the form of prose that presents information or events that are not real but imaginary. It is a creation of the author. It is literary work that is wholly or partly imagined or theoretical.

NON-FICTION

Non-Fiction is prose writing that presents and explains ideas or that tells about real people, places, objects, or events. It is an account or representation of a subject which is presented as fact. This presentation may be accurate or not. It consists of materials or stories which are based on facts and not just imaginations. Such literature presents true life stories and experiences.

TYPES OF NON-FICTION

BIOGRAPHY

Biography is the true life story of somebody written by another person. It is a detailed experience of the subject’slife events such as education, work, relationship, and death and an analysis of the subject’s personality.

AUTOBIOGRAPHY

Autobiography is a written account of the true life story of someone written by that person. . In other words, it is the story that a person wrote about themselves.

Narrative Prose: Imagine telling your friend a cool story about your vacation. That's what narrative prose is like. It's all about telling stories with characters, events, and a plot. Novels, short stories, and fairy tales are all narrative prose. Descriptive Prose: Have you ever read a book that made you see a place or a person in your mind? That's descriptive prose. It paints pictures with words, describing how things look, sound, feel, and even smell.

 Expository Prose: When you want to explain something or give information, you use expository prose. It's like writing a report. Textbooks, encyclopedias, and news articles use expository prose to give you facts and details.

Persuasive Prose: This type tries to convince you to believe or do something. Imagine a friend telling you why a certain video game is awesome. Persuasive prose aims to make you agree with the writer's point of view.

Argumentative Prose: Similar to persuasive prose, argumentative prose presents a clear argument, backed up with evidence. It's like having a debate on paper, where the writer presents their side and supports it with facts and reasons.
