Verbs and verb phrase - SS1 English Lesson Note
Verbs are words that describe actions or states of being. They are the most important part of a sentence, because they tell the reader what is happening.
Verb phrases are groups of words that function as verbs. They can include a main verb, helping verbs, and modifiers.
The verb must agree with the subject of the sentence.
Active: The verb should be in the active voice, unless there is a good reason to use the passive voice.
Strong: The verb should be strong and specific, rather than weak and general.
When emphasizing verb phrases, it is important to make sure that they are:

Made more concise: This can be done by removing unnecessary words or phrases.
Made more vivid: This can be done by using strong verbs and modifiers.
