Examples 

Vowel /i/ is a short vowel, to make this sound, the tongue is raised towards the roof of the mouth while the lips are spread. Vowel / i:/ is a long vowel, to make this sound, the tongue is raised towards the roof of the mouth while the lips are spread. To pronounce vowel /ᶺ/, the mouth is open, though not as wide as for /a: / the middle of the tongue is slightly raised. To pronounce vowel / ↄ /, the mouth is wide open and the tongue is down. The lips are slightly rounded.

Examples of

/i/ : sit, rid, fit, bid and dip.

/i: / : seat, Read, Feet and Bead.

/ ᶺ/ : hut, cut, cud and sung.

/ↄ/ : pot, shot , knot and Stock.
