Words Associated with Agriculture Crops. 

                          Crops 

Grains: Cereal crops that are grown for their seeds, such as wheat, rice, and corn.

Seeds: The reproductive units of plants, which contain the embryo and the food it needs to grow.

Seedlings: Young plants that have just germinated from seeds.

Tubers: Underground stems that are swollen with food, such as potatoes and yams.

Cassava: A starchy root vegetable that is native to South America.

Cocoyam: A starchy root vegetable that is native to Africa.

Yam: A starchy root vegetable that is native to Africa.

Carrots: A root vegetable that is a good source of vitamin A.

Onions: A bulb vegetable that is a good source of vitamin C.

                             Farming Activities

Bush-clearing: The process of clearing land of trees and vegetation in order to prepare it for farming.

Planting season: The time of year when crops are planted.

Ridge-making: The process of creating raised beds in order to improve drainage and aeration for crops.

Staking: The process of supporting plants with stakes or poles in order to prevent them from falling over.

Weeding: The process of removing unwanted plants from a crop field.

Pruning: The process of cutting back branches or shoots of a plant in order to improve its shape or health.

Manure: A natural fertilizer that is made from animal waste.

Fertilizer: A substance that is added to soil to improve its fertility and crop yields.

                               Implements

Tractor: A powerful vehicle that is used to pull farm equipment.

Hoe: A hand tool that is used to dig and cultivate soil.

Axe: A hand tool that is used to chop wood.

Cutlass: A type of machete that is used for clearing bush and cutting crops.

Silos: Large structures that are used to store grain.

Barn: A building that is used to house livestock.

Harvester: A machine that is used to harvest crops.

Wicker: A type of basketry that is made from woven willow or other plant materials.

Bumper harvest: A large crop yield.

Famine: A severe shortage of food.

Crop rotation: The practice of planting different crops in the same field in a regular sequence in order to improve soil fertility and prevent the build-up of pests and diseases.

A good harvest: A crop yield that is sufficient to meet the needs of the farmer and their family.

A bad harvest: A crop yield that is insufficient to meet the needs of the farmer and their family.
