Puberty is the short span of time which marks the beginning of sexual maturation. The period differs between boys and girls. Boys reach puberty at the age of fourteen years while girls reach it at about twelve years of age.

1. Boys voice breaks and becomes deeper.

2. Hair starts to grow on and around the genital organs, under the armpits and beards around the jaw.

3. Sex organs develop (sex gland called testicles produces spermatozoa or sperm)

4. The body muscles develop which makes them become mature in appearance.

5. Rapid growth in height and size.

1. The breast develop and nipples grow larger.

2. General body changes such as hips becomes bigger, skin changes (appearance of pimples on the face).

3. The reproductive system begins to grow and develop.

4. Menstruation starts.

5. Hair begins to grow in the private parts, armpits and other parts of the body.

Boys reach puberty at age 15 while girls at age 12

1. It helps an individual to cope with temporary physical conditions as oily skin, hair and increased perspiration.

2. It results in better health.

3. It helps to remove body odor.

4. It gives you a more attractive appearance.

5. IT gives am individual the confidence needed to be in the company of mates/friends.
