Drug abuse is the use of drugs that have not been prescribed by a medical practitioner or the misuse of those prescribed, such as taking an overdose.

Drug abuse causes some youths to dress carelessly, misbehave, and engage in unprofitable activities, making them a menace to society. They also no longer uphold cherished societal values.

The effect of drug abuse on students is that it can lead to breakdowns during examinations, poor performance, inability to cope in school, and eventually becoming dropouts.
