Pregnancy is the result of the fertilization of the female ovum or egg by the male cell or sperm. 

1. Menstruation stops.

2. Breasts become fuller and tender with nipples getting darker.

3. Nausea and vomiting (known as morning sickness).

4. There will be frequent urination.

5. The abdomen enlarges from about three months.

Ante-natal care is the attention or care given to a pregnant woman from the beginning of her pregnancy to the day she delivers the baby.

5. Abdominal examination

1. The tests carried out in the clinic will help to correct some problems which may affect the mother or the unborn baby if not detected.

2. It helps the fetus to develop properly. 

3. It helps to prepare the mother adequately for the delivery and remove unnecessary fear from the mother.

4. Ante-natal care also helps the mother to keep well and fit

1. The pregnant woman's meal must be balanced.

2. She should increase her intake of protein (body-building food). This is necessary for the formation of new tissues.

3. She needs increased intake of such minerals as iron for food, calcium from bones etc.

4. Extra vitamins are necessary for good health.

5. She needs to drink enough water daily.
