Major sources of air pollution include:

 

-       Industrial emissions: Industries release pollutants such as sulphur dioxide (SO2), nitrogen oxides (NOx), particulate matter (PM), and volatile organic compounds (VOCs) through manufacturing processes and combustion of fossil fuels.

-       Vehicle emissions: Exhaust from cars, trucks, and other vehicles emits pollutants like carbon monoxide (CO), nitrogen oxides (NOx), fine particulate matter (PM2.5), and volatile organic compounds (VOCs).

-       Power generation: The burning of fossil fuels in power plants releases pollutants such as sulphur dioxide (SO2), nitrogen oxides (NOx), and carbon dioxide (CO2), contributing to air pollution and climate change.

-       Residential and commercial sources: Heating, cooking, and the use of certain household products can release pollutants, including smoke, volatile organic compounds (VOCs), and indoor allergens.

 

The impacts of air pollution are widespread:

 

-       Human health effects: Exposure to air pollution can lead to various health problems, including respiratory diseases such as asthma, bronchitis, and lung cancer. Fine particulate matter (PM2.5) and pollutants like nitrogen dioxide (NO2) and ozone (O3) can cause cardiovascular diseases and respiratory distress.

To mitigate air pollution, several measures can be taken:

-       Improve transportation: Encouraging the use of electric vehicles, promoting public transportation, and implementing stricter emissions standards for vehicles can help reduce air pollution from transportation sources.

-       Implement strict regulations: Enforcing emissions standards for industries, power plants, and other pollution sources can limit the release of harmful pollutants into the air.
