Determine the value of frac pi 2 0 -2 cosx dx - JAMB Mathematics 2007 Question
Determine the value of \(∫^{\frac{\pi}{2}}_{0}\) (-2 cosx)dx
A
-\(\frac{3}{2}\)
B
-\(\frac{1}{2}\)
C
-2
D
-3
correct option: c
Determine the value of \(∫^{\frac{\pi}{2}}_{0}\) (-2 cosx)dx
\(∫^{\frac{\pi}{2}}_{0}\) (-2 cosx)dx = -2 sin x\(∫^{\frac{\pi}{2}} _{0}\)
= 2(sin 0 - sin\(\frac{\pi}{2}\))
= 2(0 - 1)
= -2
\(∫^{\frac{\pi}{2}}_{0}\) (-2 cosx)dx = -2 sin x\(∫^{\frac{\pi}{2}} _{0}\)
= 2(sin 0 - sin\(\frac{\pi}{2}\))
= 2(0 - 1)
= -2
