Question on: SS1 Physics - Sound And Waves
Explain the concept of pitch in relation to sound waves. How is it related to the frequency of a sound wave?
Pitch refers to the subjective perception of how high or low a sound appears to be. It is closely related to the frequency of a sound wave. The frequency of a sound wave represents the number of vibrations or cycles per second and is measured in hertz (Hz). Higher-frequency sound waves have a higher pitch, giving the perception of a higher musical note. Conversely, lower-frequency sound waves have a lower pitch, corresponding to a lower musical note.
