Find the values of x for which frac 1 2x 2 - 13... - WAEC Mathematics 2003 Question
Find the values of x for which \( \frac{1}{2x^2 - 13x +15} \) is not defined,
A
5 or \( \frac{3}{2} \)
B
1 or \( \frac{15}{13} \)
C
2 or 15
D
13 or 15
correct option: a
The fraction is undefined when the denominator is equal to zero
\(2x^2 - 13x + 15 = 0\
2x^2 - 3x - 10x + 15\
x(2x-3)-5(2x-3) = 0\
(2x-3)(x-5)=0\
x = \frac{3}{2} or x = 5\)
\(2x^2 - 13x + 15 = 0\
2x^2 - 3x - 10x + 15\
x(2x-3)-5(2x-3) = 0\
(2x-3)(x-5)=0\
x = \frac{3}{2} or x = 5\)
