How do the consonants /r/ and /l/ affect the meaning of words?
The consonants /r/ and /l/ can affect the meaning of words in a number of ways. For example, the words "rat" and "lat" have different meanings because of the different initial consonants. Additionally, the consonants /r/ and /l/ can affect the pronunciation of words. For example, the word "little" is pronounced differently than the word "ritter" because of the different initial consonants.
