If 9 x - frac 1 2 3x2 - JAMB Mathematics 1993 Question
If 9(x - \(\frac{1}{2}\)) 3x2
A
\(\frac{1}{2}\)
B
1
C
2
D
3
correct option: b
9(x - \(\frac{1}{2}\)) 3x2 = 32(x - \(\frac{1}{2}\)) = 3x2
∴ 2(x - \(\frac{1}{2}\)) = x2
2x - 1 = x2
hence x2 - 2x + 1 = 0
(x - 1)(x - 1) = 0
x = 1
∴ 2(x - \(\frac{1}{2}\)) = x2
2x - 1 = x2
hence x2 - 2x + 1 = 0
(x - 1)(x - 1) = 0
x = 1
