If m n mn nm for m n belong to R evaluate 3 4 - JAMB Mathematics 2017 Question
If m * n = [mn − nm] for m, n belong to R, evaluate − 3 * 4
A
3
B
4
C
5
D
6
correct option: c
m * n = \(\frac{m}{n}\) - \(\frac{m}{n}\)
m = − 3
n = 4
∴ − 3 × 4 = \(\frac{-3}{4}\) - \(\frac{-4}{-3}\)
= \(\frac{3(−3) − (− 4 × 4)}{12}\)
= \(\frac{− 9 + 16}{12}\)
= \(\frac{7}{12}\)
m = − 3
n = 4
∴ − 3 × 4 = \(\frac{-3}{4}\) - \(\frac{-4}{-3}\)
= \(\frac{3(−3) − (− 4 × 4)}{12}\)
= \(\frac{− 9 + 16}{12}\)
= \(\frac{7}{12}\)
