If m n mn nm for m n belong to R evaluate 3 4 - JAMB Mathematics 2017 Question
If m * n = [mn − nm] for m, n belong to R, evaluate − 3 * 4
A
3
B
4
C
5
D
6
correct option: c
m * n = (\frac{m}{n}) - (\frac{m}{n})
m = − 3
n = 4
∴ − 3 × 4 = (\frac{-3}{4}) - (\frac{-4}{-3})
= (\frac{3(−3) − (− 4 × 4)}{12})
= (\frac{− 9 + 16}{12})
= (\frac{7}{12})
