Solve the following equation 3x - 2 5x - 4 3x -... - JAMB Mathematics 1993 Question

Solve the following equation (3x - 2)(5x - 4) = (3x - 2)2
A
\(\frac{-2}{3}\), 1
B
1
C
\(\frac{2}{3}\), 1
D
\(\frac{2}{3}\), \(\frac{4}{5}\)
correct option: c
(3x - 2)(5x - 4) = (3x - 2)2 = 5x2 - 22x + 6

= 9x2 = 12x + 4

6x2 - 10x + 4 = 0

6x2 - 6x - 4x + 4 = 0

6x(x - 1) -4(x - 1) = (6x - 4)(x -1) = 0

x = 1 or \(\frac{2}{3}\)
