The nth term of a sequence is given by 2\(^{2n - 1}\). Find the sum of the first four terms.

A
74
B
32
C
42
D
170
correct option: d

\(T_n = 2^{2n - 1}\)

\(T_1 = 2^{2(1) - 1} \)

= 2

\(T_2 = 2^{2(2) - 1}\)

= 8

\(T_3 = 2^{2(3) - 1}\)

= 32

\(T_4 = 2^{2(4) - 1}\)

= 128

\(T_1 + T_2 + T_3 + T_4 = 2 + 8 + 32 + 128\)

= 170
