What were the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and how did they build on the MDGs?
The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) were a set of 17 international development goals established by the United Nations in 2015 to build on the progress made under the MDGs and address a broader range of issues, including climate change and inequality.
The SDGs included many of the same goals as the MDGs, such as eradicating poverty and hunger and ensuring access to education and healthcare, but also included new goals related to environmental sustainability, economic growth, and social justice.
