On March 8, 2023, at approximately 10:00 PM, I was returning from an excursion with a group of schoolmates when the bus in which we were travelling broke down in an isolated place. The bus was carrying a total of 25 people, including the driver.
After the bus broke down, the driver attempted to start it up again, but he was unsuccessful. We then tried to flag down another vehicle, but no one was driving by. We were starting to get worried, as it was getting dark and we were in an isolated place.
We decided to walk to the nearest town, which was about 5 kilometers away. We walked for about an hour, and when we finally reached the town, we were relieved to see that there were a few people still around. We went to a nearby restaurant and called the bus company to report the breakdown.
The bus company sent a tow truck to pick up the bus, and we were able to get back to school safely.
Although,We were able to get out of the situation by walking to the nearest town. We were lucky that there were a few people still around, and that the bus company was able to send a tow truck to pick up the bus.
Moreso, I would recommend that the school bus company do a safety inspection of all of its buses to make sure that they are in good working order. I would also recommend that the school bus company provide its drivers with training on how to handle emergency situations.
I am grateful that we were able to get out of the situation safely. I would like to thank the bus driver for his efforts to start up the bus again, and I would also like to thank the people in the town who helped us out.
Sincerely, Arinze.
