No skirts for female NYSC corp members [Senate drops bill]

Should female Corp members of the NYSC wear skirts? Senate deliberated on this matter.... Also read: General Electric to sponsor skill acquisition training for NYSC corp members The Senate has discarded the bill proposing amendment of the NYSC regulations so that female corp members who wish to adopt skirts (instead of the usual trousers) can do so. The bill seeking to make skirts/trousers optional for the female corp members was sponsored by Sen. Emmanuel Bwacha (PDP-Taraba) during plenary on Wednesday. According to Sen. Emmanuel,

 “The major bone of contention is that some of the uniforms and drills contravene religious beliefs and practices of corps members and invariably their right to freedom of religion, thought and conscience under the Nigerian Constitution. “This bill essentially addresses the above mentioned lapses in the Principal Act.”
