NOUN 2022 Admission Requirements 

All interested applicants should note that the sales of the NOUN Admission form for the 2022/2023 admission have been opened.

This was confirmed by the management of the academic institution.

Before seeking admission, here are the requirements you should know before applying for admission.

NOUN Admission Requirements For Undergraduate Candidates.

Seeking admission into NOUN as an Undergraduate? Here are the NOUN official requirements:

1. You are required to score up to five (5) credits in the SSCE/GCE O-Level/NECO/NABTEB or equivalents at not more than two (2) sittings, which you must have obtained in subjects that are relevant to the proposed field(s) of study.

2. Applicants should take note, that the “Teachers’ Grade II Certificate with a minimum of five merits or its combination with any of the certificates listed under (1) to obtain the equivalent of five credits at ‘O’ levels.

3. We would also love to inform all candidates, who are currently seeking admission into the NOUN School of Law, that they must have up to five (5) credits, which must include the following subjects:

  • English Language,
  • Literature in English,
  • At least a credit pass in Mathematics at not more than two (2) sittings.

NOUN Admission Requirements For Direct Entry Candidates

Here are the NOUN management board requirements for Direct Entry Admission:

1. You must have a National Diploma from a well-recognized institution in Nigeria.

2. You are also required to have a Nigerian Certificate in Education (NCE) in the subject(s) which are very relevant to your proposed programme of study with a minimum of one merit and two (2) passes.

3. Likewise, International Baccalaureates, Interim Joint Matriculation Board (IJMB) with at least two ‘A’ level papers in relevant subjects and prerequisites number of ‘O’ level credit passes.

NOUN Admission Requirements For Masters

1. You are required to have a first degree from a University that must be recognized by the Senate of NOUN in a related field of study. (Almost all National Universities Commission (NUC) approved Universities are recognized by NOUN)

2. You are also required to have a postgraduate diploma in a related field from a University which must be recognized by the Management of NOUN. This will help you gain admission easily to the school.

3. The school senate also accepts a good honours degree in Education (Arts, Languages, Sciences, Social Sciences, Vocational and Technical subjects) from any university recognized by NOUN.

4. The Senate also confirms that holders of HND (with a minimum of Upper Credit) from institutions recognized by the Senate of NOUN, in a related field of study are accepted to come for their Masters in NOUN.

5: Members of relevant professional bodies may apply for the Master of Business (MBA) programme. Relevant professional bodies include companies that are recognized, or registered in Nigeria.

We advise that if you’re going for your MBA programme, you should give the school senate more information about your professional body, and they might accept you.

The senate of NOUN has made admission into NOUN as easy as possible.

NOUN Admission Requirements For PhD

What is the meaning of a PhD? A PhD is also known as a doctorate. 

This is the highest degree which is awarded by a graduate school, and this degree is usually awarded to a person who has completed at least three years of graduate study.

1. Candidates who are going for the Doctor of Philosophy degree programmes should note that the school senate has made it mandatory that all applicants must possess a master's degree.

The Master's degree must be in relevant fields of study from a University that is recognized by the Senate of the NOUN.

Take note that you must possess a Master's degree with a minimum score average of not less than 60% or a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 3.5 on a 5-point scale.

2. Aspiring candidates who are going for the PhD Programmes in NOUN should note that they will be invited for an interactive session with the School of Postgraduate Studies before they get an admission offer.

3. The NOU.org.ng team also wish to notify and advise all candidates going for admission into NOUN for PhD programmes that they are to forward the following listed below:

a) Transcripts of their academic records.

b) Also forward three (3) referees' reports, and two of these referees must be from persons very well acquainted with the candidate’s academic work.

They are to forward the above-required items to the Dean of the School where they request admission.

NOUN Admission Requirements For Other Students/Workers

Here are the admission requirements for 200 LEVEL (For Direct Entry):

1: Applicants should note that they must produce their National Diploma from a recognized academic institution.

2: Applicants must also make sure, that they provide their Nigerian Certificate in Education (NCE) in the subject(s) which are relevant to the proposed programme of study with a minimum of one merit and two passes.

3: All interested applicants should take note of the International Baccalaureates, Interim Joint Matriculation Board (IJMB) with at least two ‘A’ level papers in relevant subjects and prerequisites number of ‘O’ level credit passes.

4: We would also love to inform and notify all interested applicants/candidates seeking admission into the School of Law. The NOUN senate requires them, to have a minimum of a second class (lower) degree from any recognized university with at least five credits including the following subjects:

  • English language,
  • Literature in English,
  • A credit pass in Mathematics at not more than two sittings in NECO/SSCE or GCE ‘O’ level only.

NOTE: All candidates may be required to give additional requirements by specific Schools in their location or their school of choice.
