The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has raised concerns over the spread of misleading information regarding the allowance and biometric clearance of corps members. In a recent statement, the NYSC made it clear that certain rumours circulating on social media are false and should be disregarded.

The NYSC specifically addressed a fake circular purportedly signed by the Director-General, emphasising that no such circular exists. Corps members are advised to rely solely on official communication from the NYSC, which will never be disseminated through social media bloggers.

To clarify the current situation:

  • Biometric Clearance and Community Development Services (CDS): The suspension of biometric clearance and CDS remains in effect. Corps members will be informed through official channels when these activities are resumed.
  • Corps Members’ Allowance: The Federal Government and the NYSC remain committed to the welfare of corps members. While discussions on a new minimum wage are ongoing, corps members should not be misled by false information. Any updates will be officially communicated as soon as the government makes a pronouncement.

Corps members are also warned against participating in any protests or actions instigated by false information. The NYSC reminds members of the oath they swore to and the provisions of the NYSC bye-laws, stating that any violation will be met with strict consequences.

For accurate and up-to-date information, corps members should always check with official NYSC channels and reliable sources like EduPadi
