The West African Examination Council (WAEC) is concluding plans to start using Computer Based Test (CBT) as its mode of exam.
Speaking on this recent improvement, The Head of National Office (HNO) WAEC, Mr Olu Adenipekun disclosed that the CBT mode of exam would start with its objective questions,
Mr olu also noted that the council was already concluding establishment of its CBT Centre at Ogba in Ikeja, Lagos - a 600-seat capacity center he said the council would have concluded the installation of all necessary software and backups in two weeks time.
Will WAEC CBT be compulsory?
No, WAEC is not making the CBT exam compulsory yet.
The CBT which will start with the objective questions would be a gradual thing and students will not be mandated to use CBT exam mode since some of them might not have been exposed to computers while in school.
Mr Olu explained"Where any schools feel they have been training their students on how to apply the computers very well and therefore want us to come and administer such a test using the computers, why not? We will do it. “That is why I say, for us to be able to introduce the CBT test for our examinations, it will take combined efforts of all of us – schools, WAEC and other keys stakeholders,’’
