Definition and Forms of Energy - JSS2 Basic technology Lesson Note
Energy is defined as the capacity to do work. It exists in various forms:
- Mechanical Energy: Associated with motion and position (e.g., kinetic energy and potential energy).
- Heat (Thermal) Energy: Related to temperature and molecular movement.
- Chemical Energy: Stored in bonds of chemical compounds (e.g., food, fossil fuels).
- Electrical Energy: Flow of electrons through a conductor.
- Light (Radiant) Energy: Electromagnetic waves (e.g., solar radiation)
- Nuclear Energy: Released during nuclear reactions (e.g., fission and fusion).
