Definition of Balanced and Unbalanced Forces - JSS2 Basic technology Lesson Note

Balanced Forces: Balanced forces are forces acting on an object that are equal in magnitude but opposite in direction. When forces are balanced, they cancel each other out, resulting in no change in the object's motion. This means the object will remain at rest if it was initially at rest, or continue moving at a constant velocity if it was already in motion.

Unbalanced Forces: Unbalanced forces occur when the forces acting on an object do not cancel out completely. This results in a net force, causing the object to accelerate in the direction of the net force. Unbalanced forces change the state of motion of an object, making it start moving, stop moving, or change direction.
