Erosion Control Techniques - JSS1 Agricultural science Lesson Note
1. Terracing: Construction of stepped or graded platforms on hilly terrain to slow down water runoff and prevent soil erosion.
2. Cover Cropping: Planting cover crops, such as legumes or grasses, to protect the soil from erosion, improve soil structure, and add organic matter.
3. Windbreaks: Planting rows of trees or shrubs to reduce the impact of wind, preventing soil erosion in areas prone to wind erosion.
4. Contour Ploughing: Ploughing along the contours of the land to slow down water runoff and reduce soil erosion on slopes.
