Forms In Which Living Cells Exist - SS1 Biology Lesson Note
There are four forms in which living cells exist. These are:
As independent or single and free-living organisms: Independent and free-living organisms are organisms which possess only one cell and can live freely on their own. Examples are Amoeba, Euglena, Paramecium and Chlamydomonas.
As a colony: This is a loose association of similar cells that cannot be differentiated from each other and are connected by cytoplasm. An example is Volvox.

As a Filament: Certain cells are organized into filaments in which identical cells are joined end to end to form unbranched filaments. However, each cell functions independently. An example is the Spirogyra

1. As part of a multicellular living Organisms: Here, cells are grouped into tissues, organs, organ systems and finally the whole organism.
