History of Volleyball - JSS1 Physical and Health Education Lesson Note
Volleyball was created in 1895 by William G. Morgan, a YMCA instructor in Massachusetts, USA. It was originally known as "mintonette" and was created to provide a less demanding alternative to basketball for older YMCA members. The name "volleyball" was later adopted because of the nature of the game, which involves volleying the ball back and forth over a net.
