Pedestrian safety guidelines - JSS1 Physical and Health Education Lesson Note

By abiding by these rules, pedestrians can increase road safety by staying safe while crossing the street and walking.

1.Observe traffic signals and use designated crosswalks: In order to protect themselves, pedestrians should use designated crosswalks and heed traffic signals like "walk" and "do not walk" signs.

2. Be visible: To increase your visibility to drivers, wear bright or reflective clothing, especially when walking at night.

3. Look both ways: Before crossing the street, look left, right, and left again to be sure no vehicles are approaching.

4. Stay on the pavement: If one exists, use it. If there is no pavement, walk facing traffic so you can notice oncoming cars. 5. Avoid distractions: Put your electronic gadgets away and avoid distractions like texting or talking on the phone when crossing the street.
