Signposts of Paul's conversion - JSS3 Christian Religious Studies Lesson Note
1. Paul’s conversion to the christian faith marked a turning point in his life.
2. It enabled him as a person to discover God’s purpose for him on earth.
3. Paul was changed from the status of a persecutor to that of a vessel and messenger of God and preacher of the whole word of God.
4. When his new found passion pointed to the direction of proclaiming the kingdom of God through the name of Jesus, Paul’s understanding of Jewish history and religion also changed.
5. After Christ had revealed Himself to Paul, he began to see everything from the perspective of Christ Jesus and His gospel of repentance and salvation.
6. Paul’s conversion brought great relief to the christians at Damascus and the early church in general.
7. His salvation brought peace instead of terror, fear and insecurity to the christians.
8. Before the conversion of Paul, very little missionary work was contemplated and executed about preaching the gospel to non-Jews (the Gentile nations).
9. After his conversion, Jesus called him to become an instrument of spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ to the Gentiles.
10. Many of Paul’s epistles (letters) written under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit to the churches form a sizeable portion of the 27 books of the New Testament.
